How much these modern notions have distorted our eyes & spread wrong views on art

Certainly art is self-expression

But this is just one tiny, such a trivial, such a peripheral aspect of what art is

If art were only about self-expression, then
art would be nothing more than narcissistic, public, mental masturbation
