I see more and more women wearing black leather boots

And this really emphasises the contrast

Women wear boots
while vast majority of men wear sneakers

Contrasts between;

Formal & Casual
Sophisticated & Unsophisticated
Elegant & Cheap
Clean & Dirty
etc

In a sense, this just reflects the fact;
Lack of options for shoes for men

Certainly, boots for men are sold in shops
But whether "a man can wear boots" is a different matter

If I imagine a man who wears boots on a daily basis,
such a man usually stands out in the crowd

Because such a man usually pays attention to other parts of his clothing, not just his footwear

He must look a bit (or quite) "too stylish", "too fashionable", or "too self-conscious"

It means
a man wearing boots can’t looks as nonchalant as woman with boots
