You were here, that's why I am here now

Several days ago

I was attending a funeral

My grandmother passed away

In a big Japanese room

Her body rested and several relatives surrounded

Silence

I was sitting a few meters away and seeing her

Still

And gradually,
I was coming to realise;

"Where I am from"

"..........because of you, I am here now"

"..........because of you, I can feel what the world gives"

"Joy, warmth, sadness, delight, happiness.........all these emotions, I can feel..........all because of you"

"Thank you"

I was born into this world

Not because I wanted

But,
regardless,
I was born

And a countless number of emotions I have felt so far

And one of them was certainly;
"Joy of life"

One of them was certainly;
a heartfelt gratitude for "I am alive" and "I don't want to die"

..........I could feel these things,
because of my mother,
because of my father,
because of my family,
because of all the people I've met so far

And because of my grandmother

You were here
that's why
I am here now

I couldn't convey my appreciation before you left

.........but someday
