Holding the door open for others

21/July/2023 in Tokyo

What Japanese folk doesn't really understand is.....

well, many things
but one of them is

First, they firmly believe they are the most polite & humble people in the world

(though this notion itself is nothing but pure arrogance, which is totally opposite to politeness & humbleness)

Second, they think "Japanese politeness" is the only politeness that exists

(though an idea of politeness depends on the culture & it varies a lot)

Third, "holding the door open for others" doesn't exist in their politeness concept

(So that, whenever I keep the door open, they always deeply appreciate my gentleman-like behaviour so muchπŸ€ͺ)
