"Just feel good!"
is a phrase that is close to my heart these days
"Just feel good!"
I saw this phrase in an email nearly 10 years ago
Back then
I just moved to Amsterdam
& met many house owners
& exchanged emails afterward
And one of the emails said
"Just feel good!"
at the end of it as a signature
I no longer remember
if it was a company name or some slogan
But I still remember
the impression I received
"Just feel good!"
Emotions
......particularly positive ones......
are supposed to be born naturally
Yet
This line feels very forceful
Nobody likes being forced
Yet
What this line forces is something positive
"I don't like to be forced
Yet
perhaps......, I would like to be forced, if it's something positive"
Such an ambivalent feeling occurs from this "overly" optimistic line
This is the power of the line
It causes a contradictory emotion
Yet, it all feels somehow natural
even pleasant
even funny, as its aftertaste
"Just feel good!"
After I saw this line on the email,
I was remembering the guy who'd sent it
Tall, well-tanned, cheerful, nonchalant Dutch man
I felt
he was qualified enough
to use this phrase
And now
nearly 10 years later, I feel
I can finally accept this
overly positive
overly optimistic
yet, very dazzling line
into my life
"Just feel good!"
