Sometimes got asked differences between temple & shrine
Temple
- Buddhism-related place
- Often there is a buddha statue inside the building
Shrine
- Shinto-related place
- "Shinto" is Japan's native religion, and it worships many things, particularly rivers, stones, mountains, animals or famous person etc.
- Often there is a gate
Historically the Japanese didn't make a clear distinction between temples & shrines
There is no tension or fight between them
They coexists
We go whichever convenient & whenever we want a good luck for whatever🤞
