Writing & Painting, and Music
2/November/2025 in Kraków
In Japanese
"Kaku"
means
"Writing" and "Painting"
"Writing" & "Painting" have the same sound in Japanese
"Writings" and "Paintings"
Painting is a visual expression
From our eyes,
it goes straight to our emotions
• Eyes ----> Emotions
On the other hand, in writing,
one more step is required in between
First eyes,
then, rational processing,
and finally, emotions
• Eyes ----> "Decoding" ----> Emotions
Probably
one of the reasons why I grew attached to books
would be
this "decoding" process felt like a kind of protection
A protection for my emotions
A wall for my heart
From this standpoint,
music must be the most dangerous type of art
Music can reach our emotions far more directly than paintings
What's more,
we can't completely block out sound
Paintings, writings.......,
we can close our eyes and can reject them completely
Music.......,
we need a helper — our hands — to cover our ears
but yet, still unable to block the sound completely
Music can invade & erode one's emotions
so easily, so deeply
And probably that's why
his songs, his lyrics, his sense of beauty influenced me the most — more than books or paintings
