Takano Etsuko: Railway crossing

A week ago I visited this place

This was one of the places I had to pay a visit in Kyoto

Now it's just a street, and there is a train line above

But train line used to be on the ground and there was a railway crossing here

This is where Takano Etsuko killed herself by train in 1969

Realised an impossibility in this day and age, where it's filled with high connectivity & excessive self-consciousness

"How do I look like?"
"What impression do I give?"

Her diary wasn't for publication. After her death, her parents found a pile of diaries at her room

Probably now it's impossible to face a notebook at night alone & write about things with this level of honesty, innocence & purity
