small communication

They will never know
how much that small interaction between us saved me

Ice cream shop
Terrace seat

I talked to a couple sitting next to me

Just because
they were sitting next to me

Less than 1-min, very short chit-chat

"Have a good evening", I said & smiled
"Thank you, you too", they said & smiled

And I left

Came back to the street

And I noticed

―the evening sun looked more beautiful than before
―I felt lighter than before
―I felt better than before

That young couple will never know

how much
our small interaction saved me

how much
our small interaction improved my mood

how much
they contributed to my happiness

These days
this kind of un-planned, momentary, nonchalant "small communication" feels much more pleasant

rather than "big communication" where
time & place is pre-discussed, and
sit down & spend a couple of hours together, and
"deep" "serious" "meaningful" things inevitably appear
