*From my diary on 6/October/2024
In a cafe
I see this girl almost every day
And every day
we give a smile each other
her, as a barista
me, as a customer
And now, I feel like
I like her
This must be that psychological reaction
called "Mere-Exposure Effect";
".........Humans have a tendency to develop likings for things/other person, just because we are familiar with them."
A couple of months ago
when I first saw her in the cafe counter
her existence was not registered in my brain
She was just
one of cafe employees in
one of cafes I went
As time went by
familiarity developed inside me
Familiarity doesn't breeds contempt, yet
Familiarity breeds more familiarity, still
Sit down on the seat
And I ask myself;
Is she nice? ― Yes
Is she cute? ― Yes
Is she my ideal? ― No
Today
I saw her again. as usual. as always
When ordering a cappuccino
I paid a very trivial, very tiny compliment to her
Her face quickly became red
I found it very cute
Sat down on the seat
And I asked myself;
Is she nice? ― Very much yes
Is she cute? ― Very much yes
Is she my ideal? ― No
But
Am I attracted to her? ― Very much yes
